etween 3G tablet and WIFI tablet?
have you ever tried to install and activate whatsapp on your wifi tablet and failed?
you will find an answer to all of those questions below, and also a solution for the problem.
- The WIFI tablet uses a WIFI network for internet connection. and the 3G tablet uses the Mobile 3G network an addition to the WIFI network.
- The wifi tablet can be used indoors while outdoors most probably you will not be able to use any internet application. while the 3G tablet is able to get internet connection even outdoor wherever you are covered with an operator's mobile network.
- The wifi tablet doesn't require a SIM card and accordingly it doesn't have a mobile number that you can dial. and also doesn't have a contacts or a dialer application. while the 3G tablet can accommodate a SIM card, has a dialer and contacts application. and this is the most important point when we talk about Whatsapp support.
now if you have ever tried to install Whatsapp on your tablet before, I am sure you know that the application will be installed easily. and once installed, it will ask you for your country code, mobile number. till here you will not note any difference between WIFI or 3G tablets.
once you input your mobile number, whatsapp server will try to send you an activation message with activation code to the mobile number you have just entered.
the problem starts here. as whatsapp application starts to listen automatically to the incoming SMS at the same device. and you have 2 cases:
- 3G tablet: the SMS will arrive at the tablet and the application detects it, activates.
- WIFI tablets will not receive an SMS as they don't have the SIM card in them, the SIM card has to be in your mobile not in your tablet right? so the case here will be continuous listening from the application for the SMS and will never find it. but you will find it delivered to your mobile phone.
now the trick is over here.
the trick is to make the whatsapp server think that the SMS cannot be delivered to the tablet. so the server will make a phone call to your number and tell you the activation code, and the application will give you an empty field to insert your activation code.
and that's all. whatsapp is activated. now you have to install any contacts application from the market and transfer all your contacts to it. and then whatsapp will tell you whom of your contacts is on whatsapp to chat with.
how are we going to do this practically?
- install whatsapp on your tablet
- bring your mobile phone that contains your mobile number that will be used for whatsapp and SHUT IT DOWN
- follow the installation steps in whatsapp, insert your country code, mobile number.
- now start activating whatsapp
- whatsapp will wait little time trying to send the SMS, and once detects that the sms cannot be sent, it will move to the phone activation screen. with the empty field for activation code.
- switch on your mobile phone. and you will receive the phone call.
- listen to the activation number, insert it in the empty field in the whatsapp application and confirm.
